Use a different password for every important account

A password manager can help create and store unique passwords.

Make passwords long

Use a long passphrase or generated password rather than short substitutions such as P@ssw0rd.

Secure the email account first

Update the password, recovery phone, recovery email and recent sign-in activity.

Turn on two-step protection

Enable Two-factor authentication: An extra sign-in check, such as a code or app approval, used in addition to a password. Full definition using an authenticator app or other supported method.

Save recovery information safely

Keep backup codes somewhere separate from the device.

Review old sessions and devices

Sign out devices or sessions you do not recognise.
