How to scan a document safely

Scanning often uses different software from printing. A printer can print correctly while scanning still needs setup.

Clean the glass

Use a soft dry cloth. Remove dust that could appear as marks.

Place the document correctly

Use the corner guide on the glass or the automatic feeder arrows.

Open trusted scan software

Use Windows Scan, the manufacturer’s official app or the built-in phone scanning feature.

Choose file type

Use PDF for documents with pages. Use JPG for a single photo.

Choose a clear file name

Include the document type and date, but avoid sensitive information in a file name that may be shared.

Scan and open the saved file

Check every page is readable and correctly rotated before discarding the paper or sending the file.
