How to connect a phone, tablet or computer to Wi-Fi

The network name and password are often printed on the router label unless they were changed.

Open Wi-Fi settings

Open Settings on the device and choose Wi-Fi or Network & internet.

Turn Wi-Fi on

Make sure Wi-Fi: A wireless way for nearby devices to connect to a router or network. Full definition is enabled and wait for nearby network names to appear.

Choose the correct network

Select your home or business network. Avoid similarly named public or neighbour networks.

Enter the password carefully

Wi-Fi passwords are case-sensitive. Check zero versus the letter O, and one versus the letter I.

Wait for Connected

Open a known website in your Browser: The program used to open websites, such as Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari. Full definition to test internet access.

If it fails, forget and retry once

Choose Forget network, reconnect and re-enter the password. If many devices fail, restart the router rather than repeatedly changing the device.
