What is Microsoft 365?

Microsoft 365: Microsoft subscription services that can include Office apps, email, Teams and cloud storage. Full definition is a group of Microsoft services. What you receive depends on the plan and whether it is personal, family, business or provided by an organisation.

Office apps

Plans may include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Some plans use web versions, while others include installed desktop apps.

Email

Business plans can include hosted business email. A personal Outlook.com address is separate from many business subscriptions.

OneDrive

OneDrive is Microsoft Cloud storage: Files stored through an internet service so they can be accessed from approved devices. Full definition. It can synchronise files, but synchronisation is not always the same as a complete backup.

Teams and collaboration

Some plans include Teams and shared work features.

The account matters

Licences and files are tied to a Microsoft account: An account used for Microsoft services such as Windows, Outlook, OneDrive and Microsoft 365. Full definition or work/school account. Record which account owns the subscription.
